XTT on iCompositions and BandMix

December 26th, 2009

XTT has just added 2 more hosting sites to the list, I was perusing the apple message boards and asked if there was a place to showcase my tunes there and someone recommended iCompositions.com and it is actually pretty cool and geared towards mac users, I already got a couple of good reviews too.

While I was perusing  iCompositions.com there was a banner ad for another cool site called BandMix.com which is also for indy artists which I also thought is pretty cool. I been looking for some cool indy artist communities and I am glad I found them, I am going to keep looking too.

Below is a screen shot of my new page at iCompositions (click pic to see full size):

XTT on signmeto.roadrunnerrecords.com

December 21st, 2009

Here is a site I wish was around back in the glory days (I feel like an old man saying that! fuck I am an old man) on one of the most coveted record labels in the heavy metal world, Road Runner Records that signed some of my most favorite bands and heavy metal heroes of all time.

I actually created the artist profile here a few months ago but I made a big mistake creating it at work behind a firewall which was messed up, I had troubles uploading the songs and all the other stuff you need to upload, then it didnt show up on the artist list which really perplexed me for a while, then I finally figured out a work around, I changed my email address and user name and made a new profile and thankfully it worked. Now I have a nice profile set at signmeto.roadrunnerrecords.com and below are some screen shots of the glory:

This is what the it looked like on the homepage for few days of glory and heavy metal ecstasy I had on the charts in the new artist section and the other artists I shard that day or 2 with:

This screen shot below is what it looked like with most of the page I could fit in the screen shot, which I will remember for the rest of forever:

To add to the glory, below is a snap shot of the awesome first review the song “Warning” received within the first few days it was posted which I am obviously very proud of, check the pic below:

New XTT spot – Pure Volume

December 21st, 2009

I just setup a new spot for XTT to shine, I been trying to find as many spots as I can but it seems there is not as many places as I thought or perhaps I am not searching google with the right search phrases or maybe I should try more search engines or something, who knows.  Anyway, I just hooked up XTT on a cool site I just found called purevolume.com and i dig it, its nice and easy to set up which is always a plus and it has the usual elements like the pop out player and the ability to list shows and pictures and all the other stuff, anyway feel free to check it out, below is what it looks like:

The Ultimate Drum Software

October 9th, 2009

Not long ago my 20 year old drum machine broke, it will not power on. At first I was very upset about and I started shopping around for something to replace it because I felt I was on a creative streak of writing new songs and it turned out to be a blessing because I discovered EZ Drummer by Toontrack. I shopped around quite a bit and read many reviews and I found a cost effective solution which was the Korg Nanopad and it came with EZ Drummer Lite Software which is a plug in for recording software like garage band, logic, ableton Live and many others and within a couple of days (in my spare time) I had the hang of it and pumped out 5 songs in a fraction of the time it took with my drum machine not to mention all the pre made midi beats that it comes with make it that much easier too.

So at this point I highly recommend it to any musician and if your a drummer don’t get your panties caught in a bunch because you can make your drum kit electronic and have perfect quality sounds if you record with it.

If your not convinced just go to toontrack.com and watch the video’s and from there you will see the power of toontracks software and not to mention the support portal and forum has not let me down yet and actually impressed me.

I tried about 3 other softwares demo’s that compete but there is no comparison toontrack is on the top of the pile.

News from the Lab

September 3rd, 2009

labsuitJust an update that I completed making 9 ruff draft instrumentals and one song with vocals that will be re-recorded and I am pretty happy with 7 of the 9 songs where there will be minor changes and add-ons to most and the 2 songs I am unhappy with I plan on making bigger changes hopefully for the better.

So far it took about a month to write the songs but if I added up the time I took I would say 24 hours, if that, for programming the drum machine and actually laying down the tracks. The vocals for  “Warning” took a couple of hours because I was winging it with the software I am still learning and so was rick just learning the song.

The reviews on garageband.com (please do not confuse with garage band software from apple) have been pretty good other than the recording quality comments which there should be significant changes as far as recording quality and I have some tricks up my sleeve since I am learning more with each song I record.

Any way thats my blog spurt for today…..peace!
